The Purpose of SOCCO is to offer a supportive environment for Christian families who are educating their children at home from a Biblical worldview, independent of government and public programs.   Members support each other by:

· Encouraging, nurturing, affirming, and celebrating Christ centered home education

· Providing social, academic, and service opportunities that disciples all family members

· Cultivating a safe place for  members to ask questions, receive mentoring and voice concerns in their private, Biblical home education journeys

Benefits of Membership:

· Access to our private, members-only website for keeping each other current on all matters of concern (scheduled activities, local happening, resources, questions, and anything helpful to members while honoring our Lord Jesus Christ.)

· Member-led activities (such as: field trips, classes, celebrations, community service, etc.)

· Pizza Hut Book-it reading program

· Discount to HSLDA membership

· Mom's Night Out, Park Days, Summer Beach Days (for both members and non-members)

SOCCO is a Member in Good Standing with CHEA & HSLDA:   SOCCO support group is a member of the Christian Home Educator’s Association of California (CHEA) support group network, and a discount group of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA).  SOCCO’s membership to CHEA’s network requires leaders to be home educating independent of government school programs.  Also, homeschooling through charter schools, CHEP, or public school independent study programs falls outside of HSLDA's mission and it is their policy not to accept families whose children are enrolled in such a public school option.  Following the  recommendations and missions of both CHEA and HSLDA, SOCCO does not accept families who are currently using any government home education programs.

SOCCO Membership Requirements for interested families:

· Know the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior and be living for Him.

· Be home educating independent of government control, and teaching from a Biblical worldview.

· Agreement to, and return of signed SOCCO membership forms with $15 yearly dues.

Home education from a Biblical worldview can be accomplished through the blessings and provision of the Lord, by Christian families seeking to glorify Him.  If you are currently using a public school program (charter, CHEP or government ISP) take a leap of faith and trust your home school totally to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Come join us in supporting private Christian home education.  You will be blessed!
